Dates and Information for 2022 TBD…

Methow Valley Nordic and Methow Trails are excited to bring you a series of weekly QR code skis in February and March 2021.  Each week there will be a new course to complete – either for time or simply to tick off a different ski in the valley.  Participants can complete each course as many times as they’d like over the course of the week – to try to improve their personal best, one-up a friend, or simply to enjoy another great day on the trails!

We hope you find this another enjoyable way to ski into spring!

Technique

On alternating weeks the timed category will be designated a classic technique race, but the completion category and other weeks will be ‘free technique’ (i.e. any technique you choose).

Timing

Timing will be recorded by the Webscorer app – just like the Ski to the Sun – and each event will cost $1 to cover our cost of using the platform (the timing app is free to download).

QR codes will be posted on map signs at the start/finish intersections – if you don’t see it on the front, be sure to check the back!

Be sure to read the Timing Instructions (adapted from the Ski to the Sun) before you head to the trailhead!

[Please note: it greatly eases our job in managing this race if you use the Webscorer app to time and upload your results automatically.  If you are unable to use the app, you may submit your time to info@mvnsef.org, but note that it may take additional time to input your result.  You must pay the registration fee to be included in the results.]

Waxing – No Fluoros Please!

To keep the playing field fair – and in light of recent health and environmental concerns linked to fluorinated waxes – we ask that participants use only non-fluoro waxes when they prep their skis for any event.  Thank you!

Completion Category

To encourage skiers who are interested in just completing a different ski on the Methow Valley trail system each week, we will have a completion category.  Please note that we have to manually turn the times off on the webpage once results have come in, so there may be a period when times show in that category.  The results on the app unfortunately do not give us the option of hiding finish times.

Skier Expectations

A current Methow Trails pass is required of all participants.

These events will be happening on open trails, so remember to treat other trails users with courtesy and respect.  Please visit Methow Trails website for current Covid guidelines as they relate to outdoor recreation.

There will be no special grooming for these events – please visit Methow Trails website or download the Methow Trails app for daily grooming updates.  Most of the routes chosen for this event are groomed daily or nearly daily.
