Don’t Miss this Great Race Weekend!

The Race of the Methow is a 2-day race weekend for skiers of all ages. The race courses on the McCabe Trails, including the stadium at Liberty Bell High School, provide a superb venue for competitors and spectators alike. Come join us in a fabulous weekend of cross-country skiing!

All racing on Saturday is classic. U10-adult skiers will do sprint format with a qualifying time trial and heats. U8 skiers will do a mass-start, untimed “Lollipop” race.

All racing on Sunday is skate distance format. U10-U20 and adult skiers will have individual interval starts. U8 skiers will do a mass-start, untimed “Lollipop” race.

Racing will begin at 9 am each day at Liberty Bell High School stadium. The Awards Dinner on Saturday night will be held in the High School multi-purpose room at 6 pm.

MVNT will again be hosting Race of the Methow on February 10-11, 2018.  Note that Methow Valley Biathlon will be hosting a race at the McCabe trails

Registration is available on webscorer.   Membership in USSA is required for all racers except U8 skiers, and Canadians with a CCC membership. The lowest-cost annual membership in USSA, which entitles you to enter USSA races among other benefits, is $15. A one-day membership is available for $10. Juniors wanting to be included in points scoring should sign up for a Competitor license. Please get your membership at USSA first (, note your member number, then return here to register for the RoM. Registration requires credit card or PayPal for payment via For teams, payment by check is possible, but coach must contact as soon as possible.  Saturday dinner is included in the price for all U10 on up racers who register for both days.  It is available for $10 for friends and family ahead of time via webscorer or $12 at the door.

NOTE:  Any skier (especially U14 and under) who might not race due to the fees, please contact to discuss fee waivers.

Awards Dinner & Prizes

Racers will be eligible for random door prizes at the awards ceremonies. Awards for Saturday’s races will be at the Awards dinner Saturday night. Awards for Sunday’s races will be in the Stadium immediately after racing ends.

Please join us for the traditional awards dinner at Liberty Bell High School on Saturday evening. Dinner is included for U10+ racers who enter for both days and for children under 6. Single day racers, U8 racers, and family and friends need to purchase dinner separately. The dinner will be a burrito bar catered by Twisp River Pub. Dinner is $10 online (by 1/15 6 pm) or $12 at the door. Kids 5 and under are free.

JNC Qualifier

The Race of the Methow is organized by the Methow Valley Nordic Team. It is a Junior National Championships Qualifier for juniors in the U16, U18, and U20 classes.  It is sanctioned by USSA, and licensed skiers (U16+) will get seeding in the starts and earn points with their results that will help them in future race starts. A USSA membership is required to participate.  Annual USSA memberships can be obtained for $15-$25 or there is an option to buy day membership for $10/day for those that don’t have one.
