Adult Programs

Let Methow Valley Nordic help you improve your skiing and have more fun too! Join our experienced and skilled instructors and take your skiing to the next level. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or a seasoned glider, we offer classes and clinics will help you hone your skills to make the most of our fantastic sport.

We have two multiday camps for adults: the well-loved Sun Mountain Camp in December and the Methow Valley Nordic Members’ Clinic, a smaller gathering based in Mazama.  Both are great way to kick-off your best ski season yet!  For those based in the valley through the winter, we also have a wide range of weekly classes for beginners to experts.

All classes and clinics are organized by ability level. Class sizes are small, unless mentioned otherwise – typically no more than eight – to give you plenty of personal attention.

Seeking one-on-one instruction?  Contact Methow Valley Ski School or Sun Mountain Activities if you are looking for individual lessons with professional instructors.

Equipment

For our camps, clinics, and classes you will need to have classic and skate skis, boots, and poles (unless you are only doing one technique).

Good equipment makes skiing more fun!  For classic skiing, most participants use skin skis, though fish scales and waxable classic skis also work, depending on skill level and comfort with waxing. (As all MVN activities take place on groomed ski trails, metal edge skis are NOT recommended as they are better suited for off-track skiing.)

We recommend consulting with one of the many knowledgeable salespeople at our local ski shops for help finding a good setup for your objectives on the snow. There are numerous places to purchase and rent equipment in the Valley.

In Winthrop:
Winthrop Mountain Sports
Nordic Ultratune
Methow Cycle Sport
Cascades Outdoor Store
Sun Mountain Activities

In Mazama:
Methow Valley Ski School and Rentals

In Twisp:
Loup Loup Ski Rental Shop

The November Ski Swap held at the Barn in Winthrop can be a great place to find a good deal on used equipment.

Methow Valley Nordic Ski Library

We know raising kids in the Valley can be an expensive undertaking, and we know how beneficial it can be for families to embrace skiing as a group activity, so in 2019, Methow Valley Nordic began the Ski Library.

The Ski Library offers parents of skiers in our youth programs the opportunity to borrow contemporary ski equipment in good shape to help them enjoy the sport as a family, and/or to participate in one of our many instructional opportunities.

For more details on the Ski Library contact Junior Team Program Director Sam Naney at sam@mvnsef.org
