BIATHLON PROGRAMS

Biathlon programs overview

YOUTH

Methow Valley Biathlon (MVB) is open to children on the Methow Valley Nordic Team (MVNT) who turn 9 years-old by December 31 of the current winter. Biathletes complete their ski training through MVNT, and practice marksmanship during 6 to 8 Saturday morning practices throughout the November to February season. MVB also provides support for regional and national races during the season.

ADULTS

For adults interested in trying out biathlon, MVB runs two Try Biathlon events each season which serve to both introduce the broader skiing public to biathlon and to provide financial support for MVB juniors.

MVB does not currently have formal coaching for adult biathletes, but recommends biathletes connect with Washington Biathlon who regularly run safety clinics and biathlon introductory clinics as well as an intermediate-advanced skiing clinic and an annual indoor “Summit” workshop on biathlon. WBA’s home area is Stevens Pass Nordic Center, but they do organize some of their races at our LBHS venue.

An experienced group of MVB adults meets semi-regularly for practice in Mazama or LBHS. Contact MVB Assistant Coach Scott Waichler for more info.
