Safety and health are always top priorities in our programs and events, and we continue to focus on the health of our participants, volunteers and staff as we enter our second pandemic winter.

This document is meant as a general outline of our COVID safety plan for programs and events.  The specific implementation of the plan will be done with each program and event.  Please note, this document is subject to change as the pandemic continues to evolve.

General Principles

Go outside When possible, we may choose to move activities or meetings outdoors or to remote gatherings.

Vaccination We strongly encourage all who are eligible to get vaccinated for Covid-19.   Vaccination has been shown to be the best way to reduce the spread of the disease and highly effective against severe symptoms of the disease.

If you feel sick, stay home!

Following Close Contact:

Children:

Should follow the MVSD flow chart for Covid-19 Exposure

Adults:

  • Unvaccinated individuals who have had close contact with a covid-positive individual should NOT attend any group activities until they have completed a 14-day quarantine following exposure OR completed a 7-day quarantine and then had a negative PCR test.
  • Vaccinated individuals who have had close contact with a covid-positive individual should quarantine for 3-5 days and are allowed to return to activities if they remain symptom free and test negative for Covid-19 on a PCR test.

Close contact is defined as being within 6 feet for at least 15 min in any 24-hour period within 2 days prior to onset of symptoms or a positive test.

Indoor Activities

Indoor activities include anytime we are inside a building or walled tent (with less than two sides open), inside a vehicle for transportation, or any environment sufficiently similar.

Any activities with an indoor component will require vaccination for all vaccine-eligible parties.  The only exception will be optional busses for participants in the Ski to the Sun or the Tour of the Methow.

Masking is required except when eating or in private rooms (such as bedrooms in a team house).  We will try to increase ventilation, create space between people and reduce group size indoors when feasible.

When traveling with an MVNSEF program, individuals are expected to both wear a mask and minimize time in indoor public settings. In a team-only housing situation, individuals with a negative PCR test within 72 hours prior to the start of a trip can remove their masks in team common areas (such as a living room in a team house).

Van Seating On overnight trips, athletes will be expected to sit next to their roommate in the van.

Acceptable forms of vaccine verification include:
1. Vaccine card or photo of vaccine card.
2. Documentation from a health care provider
3. State immunization information system record

Outdoor Activities

For outdoor activities masks are recommended whenever individuals are within 6 feet of another for extended periods of time.
